Safer Internet Day 2025
Today all of the children participated in celebrating Safer Internet Day, learning all about how to stay safe online. We started the fun with a special assembly introducing this year’s theme ‘Too Good to be True!’ The children were introduced to what online scams are, what they look like and discussed ways people can try to ‘trick’ us online with offers that seem ‘Too Good to be True!” Following this, throughout the day the children listened to stories and scenarios and had to decide if they thought something was a scam or not. They also learnt what personal information was and what information is/is not okay to share with others online. Year 1 took part in an e-safety Now Press Play immersive experience where the character clicked on a pop up and ended up being sucked into the computer game! They had to work out what was a scam or not to make it out of the game to get back home. Badger Class even took part in a national live Now Press Play session with over 70 other schools! Each of our Year 2 classes even had the opportunity to visit Westfields Junior School to work with Year 5 and learn how to alter images and identify alterations. This supported their understanding that not everything you see online is real. Throughout the day we all reminded ourselves about the important message of talking with a trusted adult if we have something pop up on our screen or we are worried about anything we see or hear online, whilst having fun! Such a great extended curriculum opportunity with an important safety message.
