Woodpecker
Mrs Fennell warmly welcomes you to Woodpecker Class
We are the Wonderful Woodpeckers! We are a friendly class who take care of each other and work hard. Mrs Gray and Mrs Egginton help us too, in the classroom and in the playground. They make sure we do our best and they support us if we need help.
In Woodpecker Class we always try hard to follow the Golden Rules. We take turns to share our ideas and thoughts and we respect the views of each other. If we work hard, we get rewards. Sometimes Mrs Fennell lets us choose our own reward like a sticker, a hug from a friend or a marshmallow clap. We can also collect marbles to earn a class treat.
So, what can you see in our class? There is a lovely class rug to sit on with different coloured shapes.
We all use the Working Wall which we create with the adults. It helps us with spelling, vocabulary, good ideas and examples in Writing and Maths. We have lots of resources, especially for Maths, and we can choose the best ones to help us with a task.
Woodpeckers have many fiction and non-fiction books. We love listening to stories and we enjoy reading books on our own.
Marvin helps us with our learning too. He’s good at maths so he helps us become Maths Magicians but we have to help him with writing as he often forgets. We love learning in Computing as we get to use the iPads and laptops. We also enjoy using the iPads to help us with Maths and other areas of the curriculum. In Year 2 we have many interesting topics to find out about, such as Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot and Alice Springs in Australia. We love learning new facts and developing our skills!
